Mason W. Russell, MAPE

An internationally known health economist with more than 35 years of experience, Mason is an expert in interventional and non-interventional research design and study execution, retrospective database research, epidemiological and economic modeling, and scientific communication. He has led HEOR, Market Access, and Epidemiology departments at several consultancies, including Truven Health Analytics, IBM Watson Health, Guidehouse, and Syneos Health (formerly inVentiv Health). He also founded the global HEOR and Market Access functions at Biogen in the early 2000s.

Mason’s therapeutic expertise spans many areas, but with particular emphasis on cardiovascular disease, immunology and autoimmune disorders, CNS, digestive and gastrointestinal disorders, oncology, and women’s disorders. He is especially known for his work in risk modeling using retrospective patient-level data, in collaboration with the Framingham Heart Study, CorEvitas (formerly Corrona), and many large healthcare providers and payers.

Aspects of Mason’s research have appeared in more than 125 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts, and he serves as a reviewer for several medical and health policy journals. He has been a subject of biographical record in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in Business and Finance for more than 20 years.
